Parent Involvement Opportunities

  • Daily Lunch Duty

    Parents have the opportunity to spend quality time with their children and their peers! Not only will parents ensure the safety and well-being of our students, but they will also encourage a strong sense of community.

    This is a 45-minute involvement opportunity and is available for 1 or 2 parents each day.

  • Weekly Copies

    Parents with Monday-morning availability have the opportunity to assist teachers with copies, saving them valuable time on administrative tasks so they can focus on delivering quality instruction to students.

    This is roughly a 30-minute involvement opportunity and is available to one parent per week.

  • Weekend Cleaning

    School cleaning is essential to Veritas Academy and all those within it! This involvement opportunity ensures that the learning environment is clean and hygienic, promoting better health and well-being for everyone.

    This is roughly a 3-4 hour involvement opportunity and is available to one family per weekend.

  • Take-Home Projects

    Parents are able to contribute to classroom success by assisting teachers with projects that can be completed at home.

    These opportunities will continually change based on current needs. Take-home projects will range from 30 minutes to several hours and are available to as many parents as needed.

  • Interested in joining our sub list? Browse our staff directory and reach out to any teachers for whom you’d be interested in subbing! You can also let our Head of School know that you are available to be contacted for any sub opportunities.

  • Field trip signups are communicated to parents as they become available. If you are looking for a specific field trip signup, please contact the appropriate teacher or our Parent Involvement Coordinator.

  • Fundraising is essential for the success of any nonprofit organization, and Veritas Academy is no exception! To join our fundraising efforts or suggest ideas, please contact the Board or our Fundraising Director.

  • Do you love social media and graphic design? Interested in furthering our marketing reach with new materials and efforts? Send an email to the Board to let them know and you will be contacted for opportunities!

  • Have an idea to get involved, but don’t see it listed here? Let our Parent Involvement Coordinator know!

Veritas Parent FAQs

    • Family contact information can be found on the School Directory on School Cues.

    • Parents are also encouraged to join the Veritas Parent page on Facebook.

    • If a child is sick, we ask that parents keep their child home. If your child has a fever greater than 100 degrees, please keep them home for at least 24 hours fever free without the use of medication.

    • Please notify the classroom teacher(s) promptly when your student will be absent by filling out an Absentee Form via School Cues. This can be found under the Permission Forms module.

    • If the appointment is before school, please fill out a Tardy Form via School Cues. This can be found under the Permission Forms module.

    • If the appointment is during school hours, please fill out an Absentee Form via School Cues. This can be found under the Permission Forms module.

    • Please notify the classroom teacher(s) promptly when your student will be absent by filling out an Absentee Form via School Cues. This can be found under the Permission Forms module.

    • Contact the classroom teacher(s) to gather homework before you leave for an extended period. Please come to the school to make copies of your student’s homework and textbooks if applicable.

    • A Extended Absence Contract will need to be filled out with the Head of School.

  • Please watch for an email from Chelsea Yoder, our Parent Involvement Coordinator, prior to your first lunch duty. Rules are also posted in each lunchroom.

    • PreK and Kindergarten parents may use the Staff Parking Lot for pick-up and drop-off.

    • All other families may use 22nd (M-Z last name) and 23rd (A-L last name) Street

  • We keep uniforms here at school that have been donated new or gently used from other families. On Back-to-School Night, we will have boxes available for you to take from and/or contribute to. These uniforms are also available throughout the school year as needed.

  • At Veritas, we strongly believe that collaboration between parents and educators is essential to enhance parental involvement, foster a sense of community, and create memorable experiences for all. Together, we can create a nurturing and supportive environment for our students to thrive!

    • Students will be allowed one day to do makeup work for each day they were absent, plus one additional day. (Example: if a student is absent for three days, they will be allowed a maximum of four days to complete all make-up work.)

    • Upon your student's return to school, please arrange for make-up tests before or after school, so additional instruction is not missed. Preferably, students or parents may call the school for assignments if they are able to complete some of them while they are home convalescing.
